Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palettes Review

Huda beauty palette review

Huda Beauty Obsessions palettes sell like hotcakes and after testing out a few of them, here is my take.

Huda Beauty Obsessions palettes are 9-pan eyeshadow palettes that come in over 15 color themes. They are available at Sephora as well as on Huda Beauty's online store for $27 each. The eyeshadow palettes are very compact and thankfully come with a mirror, however, the packaging design differs depending on the range you are buying. The original range comes in a standard thick carton package and closes magnetically. It also has pop-out reflective branding written on it. On the contrary, the Neon Obsessions Palettes come packaged in neon plastic -the color reflects the shadow color scheme you pick- with the name of the range that pops out in a 4D fashion. Lastly, the Nude series' packaging color depends on the tone your choose but they also come in a plastic package with snake print pattern engraved. It also has a reflective branding text on it.
While the Neon and Nude Obsessions palettes feel and look more expensive than the original ones, they all feel good to the touch and are aesthetically pleasing.

About the Shadows

Each palette comes in an assortment of mattes, shimmery, metallic and/or pressed glitter eyeshadows. I had high expectations and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the shadows. The quality has been consistent across all the 4 palettes that I own. The shadows feel very buttery and they are very pigmented! So pigmented that you don't necessarily need a primer to make the color "pop". The shimmery and duo-chrome eyeshadows are also pigmented and need to be applied with either your fingers or a wet brush. I personally found that they performed best when applied with fingers. A wet brush does the job but you will waste more product because you will have to layer the shadow a couple of times to get the desired intensity. Also, I recommend using a primer in order to keep the glittery shadows in place or they will move across your lid. Moreover, all the shadows are buildable and blend together seamlessly.

Another thing that I noticed is the versatility of the Huda Beauty Obsessions palette's transition shades. In a lot of palettes, transition shades can only be defused in the crease area of the eye to provide a smooth transition between shadows, however, in Huda Beauty's eyeshadow palettes' case, they are rich enough in color to be packed on the lids to create a cute monochromatic look.
Furthermore, these eyeshadows provide minimal fallout and kickback so you don't have to worry about messing up your base or your outfit.

Final Thoughts

Given the quality of the eyeshadows and the brand name, I think $27 is very well priced for a well-packaged 9-pan eyeshadow palette. I highly recommend the Huda Beauty Obsessions palettes because they are very pigmented which would suit a wide range of skin tones. They are versatile and easy to blend which is perfect for everyone no matter your makeup expertise.
